| Siding Replacement |
| MorningStar furnishes and installs Vinyl, James Hardie and Cedar or Pine Siding. |
| Siding selection is dependent on the individual homeowners immediate needs and how long they plan on owning the home and their personal taste. Some people hate vinyl siding because it looks like plastic wood, others don’t think fiber concrete looks like cedar and a lot of people want a maintenance free exterior that does not require painting. What’s a homeowner to do? Discuss your family’s siding needs with an experienced professional. |
| Every siding product has features & benefits and pros & cons. Most homeowners prefer a combination of aesthetics and value based on their personal preference. |

| Get a good siding estimate and job |
| MorningStar recommends that you be selective in your approach to shopping for a new SIDING. |
| 1. Determine which type of siding covering is best suited for your home. |
- Typical vinyl siding, fiber concrete siding or wood siding (approximately 85% of all residential siding installations are vinyl siding in the midwest) aesthetics and good value are the primary reasons for this selection. Most custom homes will have James Hardie fiber concrete siding or wood siding.
2. Don’t get too many estimates unless you like confusion. Interview the
prospective bidders over the phone or via email before inviting them to provide an estimate for your siding replacement. In addition to being a reputable company ask the following: |
- Do they furnish you with house wall elevations (diagram) of your walls to be sided with the measurements? If no why not… how do they measure the siding?
- Do they furnish a list of materials and items that are going to be replaced?
- Do they have an itemized proposal with a list of the proposed repairs?
Siding is sold, furnished and installed by the sq. ft. and linear ft. you don’t want to pay too much do you? You will if you don’t get good estimates that have a diagram of your house walls, itemized list of costs involved and a firm price.
You would be amazed how many estimators can’t actually measure…, if they can’t show you house wall diagrams they probably don’t know how to measure! |
